Dr. DeVault was born in Canton, IL and grew up in Centralia, MO. She spent her summers on her grandparent's farms in Montrose, MO area. Her grandpa's example inspired Dr. DeVault to help assure the next generation of farmers survived the changes that we now have in agriculture today.
Starting college while still in high school, Dr. DeVault also volunteered and worked in veterinary clinics and hospitals. After graduating high school, she then went to college in San Angelo, TX for one year majoring in biochemistry with a full scholarship. She then returned to the University of Missouri and received early acceptance in to the College of Veterinary Medicine. She moved to Mexico, MO in 1999 when she married her husband Ted DeVault. She graduated in 2003 with her doctorate from the College of Veterinary Medicine and went to work in Paris, MO at the Paris Veterinary Clinic.
In 2007, Dr. DeVault and husband Theodore purchased the practice at Mexico Animal Hospital with a desire to strengthen the quality of veterinary care of animals in the local community. Additionally, to provide for the growing need of client education in both large and small animal part of the practice. She has spent a great deal of time improving the hospital with modern updates and bringing a new light to advances in the medical field. Her favorite parts of her job includes 1) diagnosing treatable illnesses and adding years to patient lives 2) watching the bond between pets and their owners grow as the pet grows 3) helping farmers make more money by using modern veterinary medicine and 4) ultra sounding for pregnancy examination in mares, small ruminants, or cattle.
She enjoys pony rides with her kids, teaching herding to her border collie, Tip, Bee Keeping, Gardening and craftingas well as mentoring youth in her local church, Southside Christian Church. She is past president of Northeast Missouri District Veterinary Medical Association. As well as these exciting accomplishments she truly enjoys motherhood and her dreams include blending her family with a successful career.
